LG 32MP58HQ-P Review

LG-32MP58HQ-P

To say that the LG 32MP58HQ-P is big would be an understatement. This monitor is an absolute monster. It’s 32 inches of pure IPS joy, without a doubt. It’s got some really cool features including split screen mode and a black stabilizer that provides for a really impressive picture. The on-screen controls make it really easy to set this one up and configure it to your exacting needs. An IPS display THIS BIG at such an affordable price is truly hard to come by.

Full HD IPS Display

Ok, let’s be real for a minute. It’s 2016 and you don’t even have an IPS display yet. You probably don’t even know what IPS is. IPS stands for In-Plane Switching and it allows your display to render colors extremely accurately while also providing amazing viewing angles. Limited viewing angles are OK if you plan on sitting DIRECTLY in front of your monitor, but what happens when you want to hook up your game console and play some 2 player games? Are you going to have your friend sit on your lap so you can both be in front of the screen? I’m not judging you on that one, that’s your business.

On-Screen Control

Everyone knows that the first thing you need to do when you get a new TV or monitor is to tweak the settings to make it look juuuuuust right. On-screen controls aren’t just convenient to use. They usually afford you more options for calibrating your display as well. To be honest, I would consider any monitor that DOESN’T have on-screen controls to be extremely low-end and I wouldn’t even mess with it.

Screen Split 2.0

This is probably the coolest feature of all. Split screen mode lets you view two inputs simultaneously. Want to jam on your favorite FPS shooter while also streaming your favorite death metal song? Rock on! Want to shut your nagging girlfriend up when she wants to do something pointless on your screen? No prob, bob! This LG has you covered in ways you could only dream of.

Black Stabilizer

The black stabilizer is so good on this monitor that police have begun taking them to ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests for self-defense. (Too soon?) Anybody who wasn’t born yesterday knows that getting really great contrast levels depends on how bright and how dark a display can go. When it comes to blacks, this little number can go lower than your momma at a limbo competition with $50k in prize money. That’s pretty darn low!

Customer Reviews

Right now the LG 32MP58HQ-P only has two reviews on Amazon, however, both of those reviews are 5 out of 5-star reviews. This is a new product, so not a lot of people have had a chance to try it out yet. The people who HAVE tried it out and bothered to leave a review couldn’t be happier with what they received. Conclusion

This LG 32MP58HQ-P is big, black and beautiful! And you know what they always say (about monitors).. Once you go black, you never take it back! All kidding aside, this is a really great budget IPS LCD that’s great for gaming and watching movies alike. For the price, you really couldn’t do much better. That’s why I’ve got no problem recommending this panel to anyone who wants a big screen on a basic budget.

  1. Apr 2016 – yes, the two lonely reviews at Amazon are very positive, but the two reviews at BestBuy are mixed. With so few reviews, it’s hard to know what’s legit and what has been planted to hype a new product

    • I just checked out the reviews over at Best Buy. It looks like one guy gave it a bad review because of the resolution, yet the resolution is clearly stated as 1920×1080. I can’t imagine the text being large and grainy unless you’re sitting six inches away from this screen. Like I’ve said in other reviews, if you’re going 30+ inches then 4K UHD is definitely worth it. Not so much so on the smaller displays.

      Thanks for the input!

  2. How is this compared to LG 32MA68HY-P 32 Inch IPS Monitor, not sure which one to get, they both have the same specifications. However this one has 200 positive reviews on Amazon vs 71 for LG 32MP58HQ-P 32-Inch. Can you help me take the decision.
    Thank you

    • They appear to be identical in the specifications which leads me to believe that the LG 32MA68HY-P is a repackaged version of the LG 32MP58HQ-P.

The LG 32MP58HQ-P was released in February 2016 and the 32MA68HY-P was released in August. They may have repackaged it to fit into a particular product line or perhaps they upgraded the firmware to fix a bug.

For all intents and purposes, it is likely that they are the same. However, I would go with the LG 32MA68HY-P as it is a newer model and may have some improvements and/or bug fixes over the previous version, although it is not guaranteed.

I hope that helps. Thanks for stopping by!
