Lenovo Yoga 710 i7347-7550S Review

Lenovo Yoga 710 i7347-7550S

The Lenovo Yoga 710 i7347-7550S is an ultra-portable laptop/tablet convertible 2-in-1 that features a powerful processor, tons of RAM and a Full HD IPS touchscreen display. This device is really energy efficient and offers above average battery life. This convertible is perfect for students and professionals alike along with anyone else who likes to take their digital life with them wherever they go.

Core i5 6200U CPU

The processing power of this laptop/tablet 2-in-1 is really one of its best features. The 6200U is from the 6th generation processor family formerly known as Skylake and features a 14nm die. The CPU is powerful, clocking speeds up to 2.8 GHz, while also being energy efficient. This laptop is obviously made to be portable so energy efficiency is a big deal for battery life on the go.

The only downside is that this particular model doesn’t feature a discreet NVIDIA graphics chip. Instead, this laptop uses the integrated Intel HD 520 graphics. My biggest complaint with the Core processors, in general, is the fact that they’re coupled with such a weak integrated graphics chip. You aren’t going to do any serious gaming with this chip, although it IS capable of running 4K video flawlessly.

Ultra Portability

If you’re interested in this laptop you’re probably planning on taking it with you on business trips, vacations, trips to the park and between your home and office. The slim design (less than a HALF inch thick) and the lightweight chassis (weighing in at just over 3.5 pounds) means you can take this laptop/tablet with you anywhere you go without having to hulk around a big clunky device.

One advantage that this laptop has is the fact that it has a 14-inch panel in the space that 13.3 inch panel usually takes up. This gives you a larger display with more room to work without making the case any bigger. Lenovo calls the screen edgeless as it has an ultra-thin bezel surrounding it.

Full HD IPS Touchscreen

Of course, since this is a 2-in-1, the Lenovo Yoga 710 has a touchscreen. This allows you to easily use this laptop like a tablet when you don’t need to type on a regular keyboard.

The screen is Full HD, meaning it has a maximum resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. I thought that this was a nice touch considering that a lot of people will use this device to consume media regularly. I really like being able to watch all of my favorite shows and movies in 1080p Full HD.

I’m really glad they decided to opt for an IPS panel in this laptop. With a convertible like this, viewing angles mean everything. You never know exactly how you’re going to have it setup so being able to view the screen from practically any angle without any distortion is great. The colors are vivid and the blacks are deep and rich.

The only part I really don’t like about this screen is the fact that they decided to use a glossy finish. If you use the touchscreen a lot you’ll notice your fingerprints piling up on the glossy screen. The one good thing about glossy screens is that they help to accentuate the contrast which helps your picture look more lifelike.

While many customers appear to be over the moon for their new laptop, there are definitely some common complaints with the most common being the bizarre placement of the right shift key. People also complain that the charger takes up a lot of space when plugging it into a power strip and that the power cord is too short, being just 6 feet long.
