The HP 15-ay018nr offers top of the line specs at a price that’s up to 50% cheaper than comparable laptops. The main reason that HP is able to offer this laptop at such a good price is the somewhat questionable build quality. With this laptop, you get a lot of really nice hardware packed into a somewhat flimsy case. If you’re capable of taking care of your electronics without abusing them, this HP is a great value. If you need something more durable to take on the road, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.
Flimsy Plastic Case
I think I should address the elephant in the room first. Almost everyone who has reviewed this laptop has commented on how cheap and flimsy it feels. One person even said they could snap it in half with their bare hands, which may be quite amusing, yet less than desirable in a laptop. With that being said, this laptop does have a number of advantages if you’re able to deal with the somewhat cheap feel of it as you’ll discover below.
Full HD IPS Display
This is somewhat of a holy grail in the laptop world. Not counting newer 4K UHD displays (or Apple’s retina displays), a Full HD IPS panel is about as good as it gets in mobile computing, especially in this price range. You’ll get a wide color gamut, wide viewing angles, and wide-eyed wonderment from passersby (probably).
SSD + 8 GB = Super Snappy
The SSD storage, plus the 8 GB of RAM, makes for quick booting, fast application loading, and overall snappy performance. A modern processor, such as the one in this laptop, really deserves a solid state hard drive. Otherwise, the entire performance of the laptop hinges on a hard drive technology from the last millennium.

Customer reviews of the HP 15-ay018nr are generally positive and most people resonate on the same few points. The first being the fact that you’re getting a really great deal based on the hardware specs and the second being the fact that this laptop has a cheap feel to it. Most people would agree that the build quality is the only downside to this laptop and the price more than makes up for it for most.
