The Asus VE278Q is a 27 inch Full HD monitor that boasts impressive specs such as a 2 ms response time and a 10 million to 1 dynamic contrast ratio. The resolution isn’t the greatest and it is an older monitor, however, it is being offered at an absolutely bargain basement price. If you want a really great deal on a monitor that’s good enough to take home to your parents, this one is definitely worth checking out.
27 Inch Monitor in Full HD
I think this is probably just about the largest monitor I would want to use with 1920×1080 pixel Full HD resolution. Once you start getting up into the 30+ inch range you should really be looking for a monitor that’s either QHD (2560×1440) or go for 4K UHD. With that being said, this monitor will certainly allow you to watch a 1080p video and play your favorite games in Full HD, however, things like text and detailed photos might not be as crisp and sharp as one would hope for.
2 ms Response Time
In my opinion, this is the number one reason to consider this monitor. You’d be hard pressed to find another monitor with a 2ms response time in this price range. This response time measures how fast pixels are able to change. A faster response time basically gives you a much smoother picture, especially when you’re playing games or watching videos with a lot of fast action.
Inputs out the Ass
This monitor has a low price tag but it doesn’t cut corners in terms of video input. You can connect to this monitor using VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort or DVI-D. This pretty much covers all the bases when it comes to standard technology. Of course, you won’t be able to connect your new MacBook to this monitor with the USB-C port, but then again you can’t really expect that kind of feature at this price.
A Really Decent Picture
If you’ve been reading monitor reviews for a while, you’ve probably realized that ASUS is one of the better brands in the industry. This monitor features their Splendid Video technology that regulates color, brightness and the unbelievable 10,000,000 to 1 dynamic contrast ratio. For me, personally, I really start to question the legitimacy of a contrast ratio once it goes about 100,000 to 1, however, most people seem to agree that this monitor looks great, so it doesn’t really matter what they claim the DCR to be.
Picture in Picture
This is a feature I really like to see in the 25+ inch monitor category. I like the idea of being able to flip on my gaming console while my computer is carrying out a lengthy task while still being able to watch it. Not a lot of people are as enthusiastic about PIP as I am, though.
Heck of a Warranty
Even if you don’t buy THIS monitor, I would highly recommend getting an ASUS for the warranty alone. They offer a full three-year warranty and will even pay to ship your monitor to the factory and back should you run into any problems. This is by far the very best monitor warranty in the industry and worth taking advantage of. If your monitor fails in the first three years it won’t cost you a single red cent to get it fixed or replaced.

The Asus VE278Q has been around the block before and has been racking up customer reviews for a good long while. Over half of the reviews have been really positive, however, there are definitely some reviews that are worth reading on the negative end of the spectrum.
